5 Essential Oils for Travel

I'm heading to Sydney for the doTERRA Australia Convention this week and I'm always asked "what oils do I take when I travel?" so I thought this would be the perfect time to share...if I ONLY had to take 5 oils for travel what would they be...disclaimer: I take way more than 5 oils.

Essential oils are the perfect tool to have on hand for when you travel. Shitty aeroplane food, uncomfortable sleeping positions, long check in lines and coughing neighbours are just a few of the not so pleasant experiences when you travel.

These oils have saved me time after time, I am #GratefulAF to have them with me when i'm travelling. Now i'll be honest, when I travel I take a few more than these five but I understand space is limited when travelling so if I could ONLY take 5 here they are..

"If you could ONLY travel with 5 oils, what would they be?"

Here are the winners..

Lavender - The Swisse Army knife of essential oils

+ Apply a few drops to the soles of your feet to promote restful sleep on flight or during transit

+ Knock the children out so they sleep well by doing the same

+ Massage a drop into your chest if you experience symptoms associated to allergies; sneezing and coughing

+ Use topically to soothe any skin irritations; redness, sunburn and itchiness

+ Pop the lid and inhale when feeling anxious or overwhelmed

On Guard - Protective Blend

+ Protect yourself from environmental threats when in flight or during transit

Dilute and apply to the soles of your feet - I like to do this before every flight

+ If you' d like to be EXTRA protective when travelling you can even make your mini protective spray and wipe down the areas around you; seat and tray table

+ Soothe a sore throat by adding a drop to water, teaspoon of honey or dilute and massage over your

Peppermint - Your on-the-go coffee

+ Add a drop to the palm of your hands, rub together and inhale deeply when your energy starts to drop (hello jet lag)

+ Do the same to help clear your airways if feeling congested from all that recycled aeroplane air

+ Reduces digestive bloating and gas when applied topically to the stomach

+ Soothes muscle discomfort - massage into your shoulder and neck when the aeroplane seats have gotten a little too uncomfortable

DigestZen - Digestive Blend

+ Ate too many peanuts? Massage a drop clockwise over your stomach to soothe ANY discomfort

+ Inhale before take off and landing to soothe nausea and motion sickness

+ Add a drop to a cup of boiled water and sip to soothe any digestive discomfort you might experience

Frankincense - 'When in doubt use Frank'

+ Massage a drop behind your neck to support your immune system

+ Feeling tense? Massage a drop into your chest to soothe your nervous system

+ Dilute a drop in some coconut oil or your moisturiser to hydrate your dry skin

+ Make sure to drink enough water! Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.

+ Try not to overindulge. Flying always interrupts the digestive system and eating too much food especially when processed creates more discomfort and upset.

+ Get up and move! Don't stay seated the whole flight - get up every hour or so and stretch your legs to encourage circulation.
